REIKI USUI
Reiki is a method of healing that transforms and heals at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is a complementary therapy that fully supports and blends with any other medications or treatments in use. A natural energy that revitalises our being.
Reiki is a Japanese word and translates to universal lifeforce. This lifeforce or energy is channelled through the hands of individuals (Practitioners), usually by light touch, to predetermined and agreed areas of the body. A minimum of 12 hand positions will be applied to both sides of the body and all 7 major chakras will be balanced as part of the healing process.
A Reiki treatment
A Reiki treatment will normally last the period on an hour and takes place in a warm, comfortable room with scented candles and soothing music. The recipient will be offered the choice of a luxurious comfortable couch or a chair on which to receive the Reiki. Because Reiki will permeate all things there is no requirement for the recipient to remove any clothing apart from outdoor shoes.
The Reiki will balance the mind and body leaving the recipient with a warm feeling of complete wellness that radiates calm to others from a deeply relaxed and more confident self.
The Reiki (Usui) Practitioner
A Reiki (Usui) practitioner is an individual who has been attuned by a Reiki Master on at least 2 separate occasions. The first attunement (Reiki 1st degree) allows the individual to heal oneself and other family members. The second attunement (Reiki 2nd degree) allows the individual to heal oneself and others whether present or absent and is classified within the Usui system as a practitioner.
There are many different types of energy healing and numerous types of Reiki available in the market place today, see the comments made by the media and web-links below. The common thread of all these reports is that energy healing works.
I was personally drawn to Reiki (Usui), named after Dr Mikao Usui, because of my own life experience. I had witnessed the benefits of Reiki on my eldest son who had been knocked-off his pedal-bike by a car in a head on collision. He died twice in the air ambulance en-route to hospital. Fortunately, a Reiki Master (Stanley Long) became aware of our plight and joined forces with many others to channel their energies in support of my son. The surgeons and doctors at the hospital were magnificent in playing their part in his recovery. They were also honest about his physical limitations as a result of the accident. However, the story is far from over; my son has been selected - 4 years after the accident - to represent GB at cycling in the deaf Olympics in Taipei and I fully believe that one of the major contributors to his recovery was the gentle and timely use of Reiki by qualified and caring practitioners. When you have witnessed such a wonderful transition that defies explanation you want to empower yourself to help others. My son will say that he could feel the warmth and energy of Reiki even when given as a distance healing.

Olympic Success The medical professionals told Hayden Roulston, a few years ago, his cycling career was over. He accepted Reiki as a treatment from a Reiki practitioner in New Zealand and went on to compete in the 2008 Olympics winning a silver medal. Read the full Reiki story here
